Welcome To Sunset Park Place! Our six-acre retirement community is conveniently located in the heart of Dubuque, Iowa. We are an established, state-certified assisted living community offering independent and assisted living options, dementia care, and town homes. line¶ Sunset Park Place town home living provides our residents with many benefits and amenities worth examining. The exercise classes, cards, bingo, crafts, special music, social events, and outings offered through our activities and wellness programming are available to you. These items are listed monthly in the Sunset Park newsletter, “Sunset Views.” Scheduled transportation to and from the grocery store and other shopping sites is provided several times monthly. Our barber/beauty salon is located on the first floor of our main building. Cindy Lynch, our barber/stylist, is available several days a week to serve your needs. The third-floor library in the main building is accessible to town home residents, and we have a large variety of reading material. There is no formal check-out process. Residents may select the books they wish to read and return them at their leisure. The activity room in the main building on the first floor is available for special gatherings of residents and their family members. Whether the occasion is a birthday party, family reunion, or just a get-together, simply contact the activities and wellness coordinator to reserve your special date. Protestant and Catholic services, mass, communion, and prayer times are offered weekly. The dates are listed on our monthly newsletter. ‘Coffee Chatter’ is a good opportunity to make new friends. Daily at 2:30 pm—residents gather for coffee, snacks, and some lively chatter. Our nurses provide free blood pressure clinics to all community residents monthly in the activities room on the first floor. Weight and pulse checks are also a part of this health assessment. The emergency response system assures peace of mind for the residents of our town home community. The awake staff is prepared to respond to emergency calls around the clock, 7 days per week. Sunset Park Place town home residents may contract for meals and other care services from our main building. Should the need arise for assisted living care, our town home residents maintain priority admission status when an apartment becomes available in the main building. line¶ Weland Gardens at Sunset Park Place provides a family style setting (9:1 ratio) for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Monitoring, prompting, and assistance with the activities of daily living are provided in a caring environment by our compassionate and trained staff. An enclosed courtyard, flower and vegetable garden, and a walking path enable our members to enhance their lifestyle with the freedom they deserve. Life-skills areas for performing hobbies and other activities encourage continued growth and development. line¶ Support services are designed to deliver temporary, affordable care, and home services for those on the Sunset Park Place waiting list. Home services include , companionship, laundry/linen services, light housekeeping, transportation/shopping assistance, bathing assistance, and delivery of home cooked meals. Our nursing services include medication assistance, dressing changes, catheter care, vital monitoring, and regularly scheduled RN visits.

Our independent living residents are provided bi-monthly laundry and housekeeping services. Our assisted living and memory care residents are provided weekly housekeeping and laundry services.
We offer social, recreational, religious, and educational activities daily. Many people ask us what it’s like to live at Sunset Park Place and what kind of activities we have. We host a variety of activities to get you going at 9:15 every morning followed by exercise class at 10 am (which we hold seven days a week!) followed by music or some type of entertainment in the afternoon along with our ‘coffee chatter’ and usually an impromptu game or cards. Those items just scratch the surface of what we have going on! We also offer a wide variety of activities outside our community—everything from grocery shopping once a week, making a pie run at Rhody’s (a local pie favorite), going out on the ‘party bus’, shopping, and having lunch or dinner at an area restaurant like Texas Roadhouse.
Independent living services and amenities included in monthly rent are meal of choice served daily in our dining room, all utilities (excluding phone), basic cable services, bi-monthly laundry and housekeeping services, scheduled transportation, 24-hour access to staff and full-time nurse, social events and activities, wellness programs, security system, building and ground maintenance, state-of-the-art emergency call system, access to beauty salon and barber services, vital sign checks as needed, and valet parking.
Sunset Park Place Town Home Residency assures you the highest in quality service and outstanding care. Town home residency services and amenities include lawn maintenance and snow removal, trash collection and utilities, interior and exterior maintenance, 24-hour emergency call system, property taxes, building insurance, social events and activities, one and two car attached garage with remote opener, professional management, priority admission to assisted living, independence, respect, and dignity.
Assisted living offers private apartment with bedroom(s), living room, kitchen or kitchenette and private bath(s). Assisted living services and amenities include wireless emergency pendants, 24/7 trained and awake staff, full-time RN, individualized service plan, monthly vital sign check, quarterly health assessments, assistance with activities of daily living, life enrichment programming, scheduled transportation, weekly housekeeping and laundry, restaurant-style dining, fitness room and wellness programs, garages (monthly fee), and onsite barber and beauty salon.

Sunset Park Place offers a respite program for those who need temporary assistance in a private, homelike apartment. Respite care includes all of the assisted living options, medication management, package of assistance with activities of daily living, and monitoring residents throughout the day.
Dare to Dream—Our goal is to make at least one resident’s dream come true each month in every one of our assisted living and memory care communities. These dreams can range from modest to elaborate based on the unique experiences and backstories of each individual resident.
Live 2 B Healthy—Staying active and promoting a well-rounded lifestyle is good for anyone, but especially our residents. That’s why we’ve partnered with Live 2 B Healthy to provide classes that are free for our residents and seniors in the greater community to participate in. Led by certified personal trainers, these exercise classes focus on building strength, balance, stamina, and flexibility with the goal of reducing falls and maximizing quality of life.
We provide scheduled transportation, valet parking, and garages.
