You decide how active you want your lifestyle to be. line&para Ridgecrest residents have helped shape what Ridgecrest Village. We work together as a village and have many committees comprised of both residents and staff to ensure that Reverend Dr. John W. Koning’s vision keeps moving forward. line&para We are a non-profit, continuing care senior living community. We offer independent living, assisted living, assisted living with memory care, long-term nursing care, and short-term rehabilitation services on one secure campus. This allows you to move into different levels of care as your needs change and continue to be part of the Ridgecrest community. line&para The residents and staff of Ridgecrest wish to welcome you in friendship. It is with a sense of confidence that we say, “We are sure you will be happy here.” We like to think of ourselves as a community that shares together the experiences that we have looked forward to—the experience of retirement—a time of enjoyment that we hope will add a new dimension of fulfillment and meaning. line&para As a non-profit, continuing care senior living community, we offer you flexibility by providing different levels of care on one campus where you remain part of the same supportive community. We respect all your needs and are dedicated to giving each resident dignity and security in a caring way. line&para At Ridgecrest Village, you can be as active and involved as you like. You spend your time however you wish in apartments and private cottages that include everyday amenities, utilities, and maintenance. line&para Ridgecrest encourages you to remain independent in a lifestyle of fulfillment where we’ll take care of most everyday chores while you enjoy being you. Independent living at Ridgecrest Village provides you flexibility and freedom with peace of mind. We offer you a comfortable lifestyle that’s as active as you like with events and programs from social and spiritual to wellness and educational. line&para Our independent living is comprised of free-standing cottages located on our private campus grounds and three apartment buildings that are connected to each other by hallways and common areas. The apartment buildings are also connected to Oakwood Assisted Living and Crest Health Center without having to go outdoors for entrance. It is so easy to visit with friends and family and get to activities and dining. There is always someone friendly to meet along the way, it is truly a “village.” line&para The mission of Oakwood Place, our assisted living home, is to offer more than just a place to live. Our community provides companionship, comfort, and promotes independence with dignity. Our goal is to provide the best living accommodations in a home environment. We offer two areas for individuals and couples looking for assisted living services, one of which is for those with memory loss. Not only do you experience quality living, we also give you and your family the peace of mind knowing you are getting the best care each day. line&para Oakwood Gardens is a special area in our assisted living that is dedicated to residents who have Alzheimer’s and other memory loss diagnosis. The Gardens area maintains a special environment to provide security and comfort for those with different forms of memory loss. Our team of nurses and CNAs have been trained to recognize each resident as an individual and to be there for them the way they want and need. line&para At Crest Health Center we provide each resident with a Christian environment in which they may live with independence and dignity. We provide a continuum of care from independent living through end of life care. We value our well-trained staff, volunteers, regulatory and certification agencies, and families as a vital part of creating a warm and caring atmosphere for all those who live, work, or visit Crest Health Center. line&para At Crest Health Center, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life of each resident by promoting individuality and independence. We are a value driven center that works tirelessly to build strong, meaningful relationships with all those we work with and provide services to! It is our goal to improve our service delivery and care each day. We view each day as a day to improve our lives and of those around us.

At Crest Health Center, there are four dining rooms for our residents to enjoy the company of others as they dine. We also have a registered dietician available for consultation on special diets.

Cleaning Services:

Our housekeeping team consists of employees who have a desire to give our residents the best quality and comfort of a clean home environment. Each housekeeper is trained on-the-job by our most qualified staff member. They care about your satisfaction.

Housekeeping is part of your monthly fee every other week in independent living, every week in assisted living, and daily in Crest Health Center. Your housekeeper will be responsible for keeping your apartment in the best condition possible. Each apartment is assigned enough time to complete a top-quality cleaning job.

The housekeeping staff uses the best grade of cleaning products that are safe for your furniture and appliances. The vacuums are of top quality and power. Duties that take extra planning and charges may be scheduled through our environmental services director. Make beds daily, wash dishes, or laundry (charged by the pound). Housekeepers also provide the best services. In your kitchen and utility rooms, we’ll wipe off the exterior of appliances, clean and polish sinks, wipe cabinet fronts, wipe off counter tops, and mop floors. In the bathroom, we will dust light fixtures, polish mirrors, clean and disinfect fixtures, clean and disinfect toilets and showers, wipe off cabinet fronts, and mop floors. In living rooms and bedrooms, we’ll brush down cobwebs, dust furniture, dust pictures, dust mini-blinds, vacuum carpeting and furniture, make and change bed linens, wash entry door windows, wash patio doors inside and out, and wash the inside of other windows twice a year.

Activities:

We have a variety of daily events and programs including social, spiritual, and wellness education, outings, and volunteering opportunities.

As a member of the Ridgecrest community you will gain endless opportunities to live an enriched, satisfying lifestyle. Our Koning Chapel with our full-time Chaplain provides spiritual growth and support. If you choose, there are daily activities that you may participate in, and volunteering opportunities. You decide how active you want your lifestyle to be.

Common Areas and Special Features:

Creating your new home can be an exciting time! Ridgecrest has its own refurbishing team on staff to get your cottage or apartment ready for you. We give you the opportunity to help with some of planning. You can match your paint color to your sofa, your bedding, or your bathroom towels. If you would like to have an accent wall painted in your living room, that is possible in independent living here at Ridgecrest.

Our refurbishment coordinator determines if the carpet, vinyl flooring, cabinetry, or countertop need to be replaced. If they do, you have several samples that you may choose from. You also have the option of paying extra for a special upgrade. After the refurbishment is completed, your new home will be cleaned from top to bottom.

The Koning Chapel and Meditation Room, main dining room, library, Eastridge Courtyard and Deck, fitness center, computer lab, limited vision center, beauty shop, general store, craft room, mini mall, Northridge Conference Room, woodshop, resale shoppe, arcade cafe and gifts, five party and lounge rooms, and lobby areas make up the resident common areas in independent living. It is so easy to visit with friends and family and get to activities and dining. There is always someone friendly to meet along the way, it is truly a “village.”

We provide a variety of services for our assisted living residents including bathing, dressing, TED hose, mobility assistance (ambulation, transfers, and assist with wheelchairs), medication assistance (reminders, setting up a medi-planner, and administration), insulin assistance (setting up insulin pen), minor skin treatment assistance, transportation, meals, laundry, activities, arranging for at home lab draws, arranging for portable X-ray when appropriate, in house therapy (physical, occupational, and speech), and spiritual support.

Nursing services are provided by our professionally licensed nurses and CNAs who are here to care for you or your loved one providing 24-hour oversight. We offer skilled nursing care to help you regain your strength and independence after a stay in the hospital from a fall, an infection, or health condition. We provide extended care services to those who can no longer care for themselves or for those who have some of life’s chronic illnesses that require 24-hour supervision or oversight. We offer palliative care to make you comfortable as you experience life’s unexpected aches and pains. Additionally, we offer hospice care for you or your loved one. Our goal is to see that you or your loved one is comfortable through the completion of life’s experiences. We also provide respite care for you and/or your caregiver when you feel that a break would do to provide some needed renewal time.

The rehabilitative team at Ridgecrest Village and Crest Health Center look forward to working with each individual to promote a healthy and productive lifestyle. We have contracted with Midwest Therapy to provide the physical, occupational, and speech therapy to meet all your recovery needs.

Physical therapy provides walking and gait training, transfer training, balance training, lower body strengthening, endurance work, and a comprehensive home evaluation.

Occupation therapy provides upper body strengthening, fine motor skills training, energy conservation skills, activities of daily living (dressing, bathing, cooking, etc.), and a comprehensive home evaluation.

Speech therapy provides vocalization, memory training, critical thinking skills, and swallowing training.

Our restorative therapy program is meant to maintain or improve a resident’s physical mobility and promote a healthy lifestyle. There are no additional charges for this service. Restorative programs are set up and maintained by certified physical and occupational therapists and carried out by one of our three certified restorative aides.

Receiving care for the total individual is very important so we have contracted with the following agencies to provide needed services to the residents who live here for any length of time.

Dr. Amanda Motto, DO is our house doctor. Dr. Motto visits Crest Health Center one day per week and provides attending physician duties to 50% of residents. Dr. Motto also provides medical oversight to the clinical team and is a member of the quality assurance team.

Physicians throughout the community provide attending physician services to individual residents, appointments and consultations, and provide direction and oversight to our staff for their residents.

Our podiatry services include visits to Crest Health Center every six weeks to provide foot care as needed, and most services are covered under Medicare Part B.

Our pharmacy services include a consultant pharmacist that visits Crest Health Center monthly and provides as needed consultations regarding medications and is a member of the quality assurance team.

At Ridgecrest Village, your spiritual well-being is as important to us as your physical well-being. The Reverend Dr. John Koning, founder of our Christian-based community, instilled in us the belief that all religious traditions are recognized, honored, and welcomed at Ridgecrest.

Family members of the Protestant tradition are blessed to worship in our beautiful Koning Chapel. A weekly ecumenical Sunday morning worship service is available to all our residents and their families. Services are presided over by our full-time Chaplain who is here to serve persons of all denominations and spiritual traditions. Three smaller services are held weekly in our assisted living, memory assisted, and 24-hour care neighborhoods for those unable to attend services in our chapel.

Members of the Catholic tradition celebrate Mass twice a month in our non-denominational Koning Chapel. Our parish priest from Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church presides over the service. The Eucharist, served by Eucharistic ministers from local parishes, is celebrated weekly in all our neighborhoods.

Our Meditation & Prayer Room is in the quiet northwest corner of Eastridge, just around the corner from the Koning Chapel. It is available 24-hours a day for all our Ridgecrest residents, staff, and all visitors who find themselves “Called to the Quiet” from the busyness of life. Having a quiet place where you can go to meditate, pray, write in your journal, or just have time to yourself is important to your life and your spiritual well-being. As you consider making Ridgecrest Village your home, rest in the assurance that God is the cornerstone on which our community is built.

Ridgecrest has many volunteering opportunities available for our residents and public community members. As a volunteer you help residents by contributing your time, talents, special skills, and knowledge. Volunteering gives you a sense of purpose and community by supporting others and being involved. Friendships flourish and spirits are lifted by the interaction that volunteering provides.

Volunteering helps keep you and your mind active, opens your heart, and is rewarding and gratifying. There are many ways one can be a volunteer ranging from reading to a resident living in Crest, playing cards with residents living in Oakwood, to helping in the Arcade Cafe and Gifts. Volunteering is a vital part of the caring community that is Ridgecrest.

We encourage our volunteers and residents to join the Volunteer Service League to ensure a strong, active, and vital organization. It helps provide the funds for a variety of the projects and programs that enriches the lives of our residents.

Transportation/Parking:

Ridgecrest provides transportation for doctor and dental appointments. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday transportation is provided to grocery stores, banks, and drug stores. Transportation is also provided for activities outside of Ridgecrest like Circa 21, Playcrafter’s Barn and Theatre, Iowa basketball games, and bus trips. Sometimes a nominal fee is charged. We currently have two wheelchair equipped mini-vans and a 22-passenger bus with a wheelchair lift.
