The Jackson Renaissance is a historic property that has long been a part of the fabric of its neighborhood. Built in 1893, the Jackson School closed as a public institution in 1943. The school then became a part of many small businesses throughout the years until being abandoned in 2005. All the while, its neighborhood longed for a return of the building’s presence. Now that dream has come true.
The Jackson Renaissance has 48 stylish, contemporary apartment homes that celebrate all that is historic and unique about the property. A new three-story addition was incorporated into the design that houses 24 of the 48 units with 44 units targeted to low-income seniors age 55 plus earning at or below 50 – 60 percent of area median income and four units at market rate rents.
This property contains a plethora of amenities, including spacious one- and two-bedroom floor plans with multiple layout options and closets galore, penthouse units with skylights have been added in the existing attic space, a fitness center along with beautiful full kitchens with maple cabinets, a library, and a community room with hearth and spacious seating. The building’s historic windows feature the original trim that has been restored to its original 1893 finish. We’re not in a school anymore. Many features of the old Jackson School were retained in its conversion to the senior living Jackson Renaissance, but new ones also were added. Skylights are a feature in fourth-floor apartments at Jackson Renaissance in Davenport. The gated complex is surrounded by perimeter fencing for enhanced security and features amenities such as a computer room, fitness center, and community space. All apartments include full kitchens with stove, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Other amenities include washer/dryer, central air, high efficiency furnaces, and storage.
