Even though the elderly tend to become increasingly isolated over time, their need for socialization is as great as ever (if not all the more so).
Regardless of how much stuff you have and how much space you have for it, what happens when the stuff you have exceeds the amount of space for it? Clutter. And given a lifetime to accumulate, clutter can get to be quite overwhelming for any individual or family.
We’ve known and seen people firsthand who seemingly get the “wintertime blues.” Towards the end of winter, they become a bit more depressed and irritable. It’s later in the spring and after a bit of time outside that they begin to pull out of it.
